Retirement Visas for Australia
(Australian retirement visas)

Retirement visas for Australia are available to
applicants age 55 or over, to apply you must have no dependants (other than a spouse), and you must be able to be self-supporting in whilst in Australia without cost to Australia's social and welfare services.
Your Australian retirement visa initially permits you to stay 4 years and can then be extended every 2 years. However, this is subject to financial and health criteria continuing to be met.
As the holder of a temporary retirement visa, you will not be covered by Medicare (Australia's national health cover) system or be eligible for any social security benefits from the Australian government. You will be required to take out private medical and hospital health care insurance cover whilst in Australia or make other arrangements for cover in your home country prior to entering Australia.
Once you have been granted your Australian retirement visa, you will be permitted to work part-time up to 20 hours per week in any occupation except the Australian public service.
Retirement Visas information on this website is purely available as a resource tool. For more accurate information on Retirement and visa requirements please check the Australian Governments Department of Immigration and Multicultural and Indigenous Affairs.
