Australian working holiday visas provide a great opportunity for young people aged 18 – 31 to travel round Australia, whilst allowing them to work to earn additional money to help fund their holiday.
Your Australian work visa permits you to stay in Australia for up to 12 months, though you may leave and re-enter Australia as often as you wish during this time.
You may work to subsidise your travel when entering under a work visa; however you may only work for any individual employer for a maximum of 6 months.

This visa allows you to spend up to 12 months working and travelling around Australia.
Australian Working Holiday Visa Requirements
To be eligible for a working visa for Australia, you must be between the ages of 18 - 30 at the time of your application. You must also have no dependent children.
If you have dependent children but they will not be joining you on your travels then you may be eligible to apply manually. Please contact our office directly for further information.
To be eligible to apply for an Australian work visa, you must hold a valid passport from one of the following countries:
- The Netherlands
- United Kingdom
United States passport holders can apply for a work & holiday visa. The conditions are identical; however you must also have graduated from a high school and be able to provide details of the qualifications held and of the education provider.
This additional information will be requested after you have lodged your application by E-Mmail.
The cost of the work & holiday visa (US only) is $499.00 USD.
All applications for Australian working holiday visas must be made from outside Australia. Additionally, there are certain health, character and financial requirements that may affect your eligibility.
The application process usually takes around 48 hours*; however in some situations it may take longer. U.S. applications usually take up to 2 weeks.
Once your visa has been issued, you will have up to 12 months to activate it by entering Australia.
You will be allowed to stay in Australia for up to 12 months from the date you first enter, though you may leave and re-enter Australia as many times as you wish during this time.
There is also the opportunity to extend Australian working holiday visas for up to an additional 12 months by completing 3 months of seasonal work - you will be required to provide evidence of this when applying for your second year. This option is not available to U.S. applicants.
