The New Zealand working holiday visa scheme gives you the opportunity to travel around New Zealand taking up casual employment to help finance your holiday.
New Zealand working holiday visas permit you to stay for either 12 months, or up to 23 months. However, you may only work for a total of 12 months, regardless of which length of New Zealand working holiday visa you choose.
Your visa will automatically be for 12 months, if you wish to increase this you will be required to undergo medical checks, this will be at an additional charge.
You may also study or train for up to 3 months when entering under a New Zealand working holiday visa.

To be eligible for New Zealand working holiday visas you must hold a valid passport from one of the following countries:
- Argentina
- Belgium
- Canada
- Chile
- Czech Republic
- Denmark
- Finland
- Germany

- Korea
- Malaysia
- Malta
- The Netherlands
- Norway
- Singapore
- Sweden
- Thailand

- United States of America
Your passport will need to be valid for at least 3 months after you depart from New Zealand.
You will be also required to meet other various criteria in order to be eligible for a New Zealand working holiday visa. The working holiday scheme is only available to applicants aged 18 - 30 at the time you apply for a New Zealand working holiday visa.
You are not permitted to apply for this visa if you have any dependent children. The New Zealand Government must be happy that your main purpose in applying for a New Zealand working holiday visa is to holiday and not to work. All applications for New Zealand working holiday visas must be made from outside New Zealand.
You are only permitted to have one New Zealand working holiday visa.
There are also certain health, character and financial requirements you must satisfy to be eligible for New Zealand working holiday visas.

Your visa becomes activated upon entering New Zealand. It is possible to leave and re-enter New Zealand multiple times, until your New Zealand visa has expired.
